🍞 Crispy and sweet, these Cinnamon French Toast Sticks are perfect for a quick and delicious breakfast treat.
✨ With a crunchy cinnamon sugar coating, they offer a delightful twist on classic French toast that’s fun to eat and easy to make.

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 3 servings

Ingredients

– 4 thick slices white bread preferably stale

– 2 eggs

– 1/4 cup milk

– Pinch of salt

– 1/3 cup white sugar

– 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder

– 3 tablespoons butter

– Maple syrup to serve

Instructions

1-First, remove the crust from each slice of bread, then cut each slice into 3 thick sticks. In a large bowl, whisk together 2 eggs, 1/4 cup milk, and a pinch of salt. On a plate, mix 1/3 cup white sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder until well combined.

2-Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large pan over medium-high heat. Quickly dip the bread sticks into the egg mixture without soaking, shake off excess, and place in the pan. Cook in two batches to avoid overcrowding, flipping each side until golden brown.

3-Immediately transfer the cooked sticks to the cinnamon sugar mixture and roll to coat while they are still hot so the sugar adheres well. Melt the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter to cook the remaining bread sticks. Serve immediately, optionally with maple syrup for added sweetness.

4-First Step: Prepare your ingredients by slicing the bread into sticks about 1 inch wide. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until smooth.

5-Second Step: Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add butter or oil to coat the surface.

6-Third Step: Dip the bread sticks into the egg mixture, making sure every side is well-coated but not soggy, then place them carefully on the hot skillet.

7-Fourth Step: Cook the sticks for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Adjust the heat if necessary to prevent burning.

8-Fifth Step: For vegan or gluten-free versions, ensure plant-based egg substitutes and specialty breads soak long enough to absorb flavors without falling apart.

9-Final Step: Remove the French toast sticks from the skillet, let them cool slightly, then serve with your favorite toppings such as maple syrup, fresh fruit, or powdered sugar for a delightful finish.

Notes

🥖 Use stale bread to prevent sogginess, as fresh bread absorbs too much egg mixture and becomes floppy.
🔪 Cut sticks to about 1.7 cm (2/3 inch) thick after removing crusts for the perfect size.
🍁 Coat sticks in cinnamon sugar immediately after cooking while hot to ensure good adhesion and maximum flavor.
