– ¼ cup triple sec or any orange-flavored liqueur (optional)

– ⅓ cup fresh lime juice

– 1 to 2 tablespoons honey or agave syrup (optional, natural sweetness from watermelon)

– 1 heaping cup ice (omit if serving on the rocks)

– Salt or flavored salts (such as Tajín or hibiscus) for rimming the glass

– Lime wedges for garnish

– Optional: thinly sliced jalapeño (about 1 small pepper) to infuse tequila for a spicy twist

Instructions

Prepare watermelon: Cut ripe watermelon into chunks and freeze for at least six hours if making a frozen margarita. If serving on the rocks, use fresh watermelon and skip freezing.

Infuse tequila (optional): Add thin slices of jalapeño to tequila for 15–30 minutes for a spicy variation, then remove slices.

Blend ingredients: In a blender, combine the watermelon (frozen or fresh), tequila (infused or plain), triple sec if using, lime juice, sweetener (optional), and ice if frozen margarita is desired.

Blend to smooth: Blend until smooth, pausing to scrape the sides if needed to ensure consistent texture.

Prepare glasses: Rim glasses by rubbing with lime wedges and dipping into salt or flavored salts to coat evenly.

Pour and serve: Fill prepared glasses with ice when serving on the rocks, then pour the margarita mixture in.

Garnish: Add lime wedges, and optionally mint or jalapeño slices, to garnish and enhance the presentation.
