🥛 This classic treat combines a light sponge with a luscious three-milk soak and whipped cream topping for a perfect balance of flavors.

  • Total Time: 2 hours 10 minutes

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup all-purpose flour for structure and lightness

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

5 large eggs (separated into yolks and whites)

1 cup sugar (divided: 3/4 cup for egg yolks and 1/4 cup for egg whites)

1/3 cup whole milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk for moisture and richness

1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk for moisture and richness

1/4 cup whole milk for moisture and richness

1 pint heavy cream to enhance flavor and presentation

3 tablespoons sugar to enhance flavor and presentation

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Ground cinnamon for sprinkling on top

Instructions

1-Preheat your oven: First, preheat your oven to 350°F. In a bowl, combine 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Separate 5 large eggs into yolks and whites, then beat the yolks with 3/4 cup sugar until pale yellow, mixing in 1/3 cup whole milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract before gently combining with the flour mixture.

2-Building the Batter: Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form, adding the remaining 1/4 cup sugar gradually. Fold this into the batter carefully to keep it airy. Pour the mixture into an ungreased pan and bake for 25-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let it cool completely on a wire rack.

3-Adding the Soak: Mix 1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk, 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk, and 1/4 cup whole milk. Poke holes all over the cooled cake and pour this mixture evenly over it. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight to let it absorb fully.

4-Finishing Touches: Whip 1 pint heavy cream with 3 tablespoons sugar and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract until stiff peaks form, then spread it over the cake. Sprinkle ground cinnamon on top and serve with optional fresh sliced strawberries. Baking times may vary, so keep an eye on it for the perfect texture.
