🌶️ This sweet chili sauce delivers a perfect balance of tangy sweetness and spicy heat for any dish.
🍯 Quick to whisk together, it adds vibrant flavor without the need for a pantry raid.

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: ½ cup (about 8 tbsp)

Ingredients

– is about 15 ml.

– 1 tablespoon minced garlic Offers pungency and aroma; you can also use 1 ½ teaspoons finely minced garlic, which is approximately 4.5 g, for a more precise measure.

– 1 tablespoon red chili flakes Delivers heat intensity; alternatively, use ½ to 1 teaspoon dried red-chili flakes, starting with the smaller amount for less heat.

– 1/2 cup water Adjusts the consistency for easy pouring and mixing.

– Brings in a fresh, aromatic note; that’s roughly 2 g for exactness.

– 1 teaspoon soy sauce Adds a savory touch; that’s about 5 ml, and opt for a gluten-free version if needed.

– 2 teaspoons cornstarch Helps thicken the sauce; dissolve in 1 tablespoon water, which is about 8 g of cornstarch and 15 ml of water.

– 1-2 drops natural red food coloring Optional, but it enhances the color without artificial additives.

Instructions

1-First, combine the sugar, rice vinegar, and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir gently until the sugar fully dissolves, creating a smooth base for your sauce.

2-Next, add the minced garlic, ginger, chili paste, red chili flakes, soy sauce, and fish sauce to the mix, letting the flavors begin to blend as you stir.

3-Once mixed, bring the saucepan to a gentle simmer for about 5 minutes to infuse all the tastes together.

4-At this stage, stir in the cornstarch mixture to thicken the sauce gradually.

5-If you’re aiming for a vibrant look, add 1-2 drops of natural red food coloring at the end, then remove from heat and let it cool; the sauce will thicken more as it rests.

🍯 For a sweeter profile, add a teaspoon of honey or brown sugar to the sauce.
🥢 To keep the sauce gluten‑free, substitute soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos.
