Ingredients

– 2 rolled pie crusts (ready to use)

– 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

– 1/2 pound (about 225 grams) ground beef

– 1/2 pound (about 225 grams) Italian sausage (optional)

– 1 cup pepperoni slices

– 1 1/2 cups pizza sauce or marinara

– 1 cup shredded cheddar or provolone cheese

– 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

– 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

– 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

– 3 tablespoons melted butter for brushing on top crust

Instructions

1-Cook the ground beef and Italian sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned, then drain excess fat to keep the pie from getting soggy.

2-Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and roll out one pie crust to fit a deep-dish pie pan or deep skillet for the ideal thickness.

3-Layer the bottom of the crust with half of the mozzarella cheese, then add the cooked ground beef, Italian sausage, and pepperoni slices on top.

4-Evenly pour the pizza sauce over the meat layer and sprinkle with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes if you want extra spice.

5-Add the remaining mozzarella cheese and some additional pepperoni slices for extra flavor, then cover with the second pie crust.

6-Brush the top with melted butter mixed with garlic powder to give it a golden finish, and bake for 20-25 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese melts.

7-Allow the pie to cool before slicing and serving to get clean pieces.
