πŸ” Savor a juicy, flavorful burger wrapped in caramelized onion buns for a low-carb twist on a classic favorite.
πŸ§… This recipe combines savory beef patties with a tangy special sauce and sweet onion rounds for a satisfying meal without the bread.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

4 yellow onion rounds each about Β½ inch thick and 4-5 inches wide for buns

1 tablespoon olive oil for brushing the onion rounds to caramelize

12 ounces (approximately 340 grams) ground beef for patties

Salt and pepper to taste for seasoning the beef patties

1 tablespoon vegetable oil for cooking the beef patties

2 slices of cheddar or American cheese for melting on top

4 tablespoons mayonnaise for the special burger sauce

1 tablespoon ketchup for the sauce

1 teaspoon yellow mustard for the sauce

2 tablespoons finely chopped dill pickles for the sauce

Instructions

1-Step 1: Divide the 12 ounces of ground beef into four equal portions.

2-Step 2: Press each portion into thin patties that are larger than the onion slices, and season them well with salt and pepper to taste.

3-Step 3: Cook two patties at a time in a skillet on medium-high heat with 1 tablespoon vegetable oil. Smash them immediately to create those crispy edges, and cook until browned on one side.

4-Step 4: Flip the patties, add a slice of cheddar or American cheese on one, then stack the other patty on top to melt the cheese perfectly.

5-Step 5: Assemble each burger by spreading 1 tablespoon of the sauce on one onion round, adding the double-stacked patties, topping with another tablespoon of sauce, and finishing with the second onion round.
