  • Total Time: 55-60 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

8 ounces (about 2 cups) cooked lobster meat, chopped

16 ounces medium pasta such as cavatappi, penne, or shells

1/3 cup salted butter

1/3 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon dry mustard powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

2 3/4 cups milk

1/2 cup half and half or light cream

2 cups shredded sharp cheddar

1 1/4 cups shredded Gruyere or Swiss

1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs

2 tablespoons melted butter

2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley or 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley

Instructions

1-First, cook the pasta: Boil 16 ounces of medium pasta like cavatappi, penne, or shells according to the package directions until it’s al dente, then drain and set it aside. This step ensures the pasta holds its shape when mixed with the sauce.

2-Next, prepare the cheese sauce by melting 1/3 cup salted butter in a pan over medium heat, then whisk in 1/3 cup all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper to form a roux.

3-Gradually stir in 2 3/4 cups milk and 1/2 cup half and half, cooking until the mixture thickens. Once thick, add 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar, 1 1/4 cups shredded Gruyere or Swiss, and 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese, stirring until smooth and creamy.

4-Gently fold in 8 ounces of chopped cooked lobster meat and the cooked pasta, making sure everything is evenly coated.

5-For a finishing touch, mix the topping: Combine 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs, 2 tablespoons melted butter, 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese, and 1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley, then sprinkle it over the dish.

6-Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and bake at 350°F for 20-25 minutes until it’s bubbly and golden.

7-Let it cool a bit before serving to keep the textures just right.
