Instructions
1. Mix warm water, active dry yeast, and sugar in a bowl and let sit until foamy.
2. Add salt, melted butter, and all-purpose flour, then mix until a dough forms.
3. Knead the dough until smooth, then let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
4. Divide the dough into equal pieces and roll each piece into a rope.
5. Shape the ropes into classic pretzel shapes or other desired forms.
6. Prepare a baking soda bath by boiling water and dissolving baking soda in it.
7. Dip each pretzel into the baking soda bath for a few seconds, then remove.
8. Place the pretzels on a lined baking sheet.
9. Brush each pretzel with egg wash and sprinkle with coarse salt.
10. Bake at 450°F for 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
11. Remove from the oven and brush with melted butter for extra flavor.
12. Serve warm and enjoy your homemade soft pretzels!
