Ingredients
– 8 thick slices of soft white sandwich bread
– 5oz / 150g finely grated cheddar cheese
– 8 thin slices of cooked bacon
– 2 tablespoons melted butter
Instructions
1-Slice off the crusts from the 8 thick slices of soft white sandwich bread and flatten each one with a rolling pin to make them easy to roll.
2-Sprinkle a couple of pinches of the 5oz / 150g finely grated cheddar cheese over each flattened slice, leaving a small area free at the edge for sealing.
3-If you’re using bacon, place one of the 8 thin slices on the edge closest to you for that extra smoky flavor.
4-Brush the very end of the bread with some of the 2 tablespoons melted butter, then tightly roll up the bread with the cheese and bacon inside.
5-Place the rolls seam-side-down on a plate and repeat for all slices to ensure they hold their shape.
6-Brush all the rolls with the remaining melted butter and put them seam-side-down in a dry pan over medium heat.
7-Use tongs to rotate the rolls until they’re golden and crispy all over, with the cheese starting to melt and leak out a bit fry in batches if needed.
8-Serve them warm, maybe with soup or as a savory breakfast treat to really wow your taste buds.
