Ingredients
22 peanut butter cups (unwrapped and divided into 16 whole cups and 6 crumbled pieces)
3 cups (about 510 g) chocolate chips (milk chocolate recommended; semi-sweet or dark chocolate can be used)
14 ounces (approximately 396 g) sweetened condensed milk
Optional: chopped nuts, swirled peanut butter, or other candies for topping
Instructions
1- Line a 9 x 9 inch (23 x 23 cm) baking pan with foil or parchment paper, extending over the edges for easy removal. Lightly spray with cooking spray.
2- Arrange 16 whole peanut butter cups in an even layer across the bottom of the pan. Remove all paper wrappers before placing the cups.
3- In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk. Stir continuously until the mixture is fully melted, smooth, and well blended. Avoid overheating to prevent scorching.
4- Pour and spread the melted chocolate mixture evenly over the peanut butter cups in the pan.
5- Immediately sprinkle the remaining 6 crumbled peanut butter cups over the top, pressing lightly into the chocolate layer for texture and visual appeal.
6- Allow the fudge to cool at room temperature until it firms up slightly (about 20-30 minutes). This step helps improve texture before refrigeration.
7- Cover the pan tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or until the fudge is completely set and firm. For easier cutting, freeze the bars briefly (10-15 minutes) before slicing.
8- Once fully chilled, lift the fudge out using the foil or parchment edges and cut into squares with a sharp knife. For clean slices, warm the knife under hot water and dry between cuts.
