  • Total Time: 2 hours 25 minutes
  • Yield: 16 bars 1x

Ingredients

Scale

40 chocolate wafer cookies

4 tablespoons salted butter

1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

2 teaspoons instant coffee

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup creamy peanut butter

1/4 cup pure maple syrup or honey

1/4 cup melted coconut oil

1 cup heavy cream

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Sea salt

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1/4 cup butter

Instructions

1-First Step: Prepare your workspace by gathering all ingredients and lining an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper for easy removal. In a microwave-safe bowl, gently melt butter and peanut butter together in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. This ensures the chocolate peanut butter fudge bars have a creamy base, while incorporating the crust by pulsing 40 chocolate wafer cookies into crumbs and mixing with 4 tablespoons of salted butter, 1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips, 2 teaspoons of instant coffee, and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract before pressing into a 9×9 inch lined baking dish.

2-Second Step: Spread the filling evenly over the crust, which consists of 1 cup of creamy peanut butter, 1/4 cup of pure maple syrup or honey, and 1/4 cup of melted coconut oil. Freeze this layer for 30 minutes to set it quickly, as per our tips for the best texture.

3-Third Step: Add powdered sugar slowly, stirring continuously to combine into a thick, fudge-like mixture. Incorporate vanilla extract and mix well to evenly distribute flavor.

4-Fourth Step: In a separate bowl, melt the chocolate chips until glossy and smooth using a double boiler or microwave in short bursts.

5-Fifth Step: Pour half the peanut butter mixture into the prepared pan, spreading evenly. Then layer melted chocolate over it, followed by the remaining peanut butter mixture to create that signature look, and prepare the topping by heating 1 cup of heavy cream until steaming and pouring it over 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips to melt.

6-Sixth Step: Use a knife to create swirls or marbling effects to enhance visual appeal, and optionally sprinkle sea salt over the top for that perfect salty finish.

7-Final Step: Refrigerate for at least one hour until fully set, then cut into 16 bars. For dietary preferences, vegan or gluten-free alternatives can be incorporated at each melting and mixing stage, and remember to store them in the refrigerator to maintain texture.

Notes

🥜 Use natural peanut butter without added oils or sugars for best flavor and texture.
❄️ Freeze the peanut butter layer before adding fudge topping to help it set quickly and cleanly.
🧈 Adjust crust consistency by adding more butter if the mixture is too crumbly to press firmly.
