🍓🍫 Dive into these easy-to-make chocolate covered strawberries that are perfect for beginners and look professionally gourmet!
😍 A simple treat bursting with fresh berry flavor and rich chocolate, ideal for parties or romantic gestures.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 40 strawberries

Ingredients

– 10 ounce (285 g) package of bittersweet, semi-sweet, or milk chocolate

– 2 pounds fresh strawberries, stems attached

– Chopped nuts

– Toasted coconut

– Sprinkles

– Mini chocolate chips

– Graham cracker crumbs

– Melted white chocolate

Instructions

1-First Step: Prepare Your Strawberries Start by washing your strawberries thoroughly under cool running water. It’s crucial to dry them completely with paper towels or let them air dry completely. Any moisture remaining on the berries can cause the chocolate to seize or not adhere properly, leading to disappointing results. While the strawberries are drying, you can prepare your workspace by lining a baking tray with parchment or waxed paper. This will provide a non-stick surface for setting your finished chocolate covered strawberries.

2-Second Step: Prepare Your Toppings While your strawberries are drying, prepare any toppings you’d like to use. Place chopped nuts, toasted coconut, sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, or graham cracker crumbs in small shallow bowls. Having these ready before you start melting the chocolate will make the dipping process much smoother, as you’ll need to apply toppings immediately after dipping while the chocolate is still wet. If you plan to drizzle white chocolate over the dipped strawberries, melt it separately and keep it warm until ready to use.

3-Third Step: Melt the Chocolate Melting chocolate properly is the most critical step in making perfect chocolate covered strawberries. You have two main options: using a double boiler or the microwave. For the double boiler method, fill the bottom pot with about an inch of water and bring it to a simmer. Place the chocolate in the top pot (making sure the bottom doesn’t touch the water) and stir frequently until completely melted and smooth. If using the microwave, place the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval. This prevents the chocolate from burning and ensures even heating. Regardless of the method you choose, be very careful not to get any water in the chocolate, as even a single drop can cause it to seize and become grainy.

4-Fourth Step: Dip the Strawberries Once your chocolate is melted and smooth, it’s time to dip your strawberries. Hold each strawberry by the green stem or leaves, which serves as a natural handle. Gently dip the strawberry into the melted chocolate, swirling it slightly to ensure even coverage. Lift the strawberry out of the chocolate, letting any excess drip off back into the bowl. You can gently shake the strawberry or tap it against the side of the bowl to remove excess chocolate, but be careful not to shake too vigorously or you might dislodge the strawberry from its stem.

5-Fifth Step: Add Toppings If you’re using toppings, this is the time to add them. While the chocolate is still wet, carefully dip or roll the chocolate covered strawberry into your prepared toppings. You can cover the entire berry or just the bottom half for a decorative effect. For sprinkles or smaller toppings, you can also sprinkle them over the strawberry rather than dipping. If you’re planning to drizzle with white chocolate, wait until after the dark chocolate has set slightly before adding the drizzle, or place the dipped strawberries on your prepared tray and add the white chocolate drizzle later.

6-Final Step: Set and Serve Place each finished strawberry on your parchment-lined baking tray. Make sure they aren’t touching each other to prevent them from sticking together. Allow the chocolate to set at room temperature for about 30 minutes, or place the tray in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes to speed up the process. Once the chocolate is firm, your chocolate covered strawberries are ready to serve! For best results, serve them at room temperature shortly after they’ve set. If you’ve refrigerated them, let them sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes before serving to prevent condensation from forming on the chocolate.
