– 1/4 teaspoon white pepper adds a mild kick, tweak to your taste
– 1/4 teaspoon ground thyme brings a subtle herbal note
– 2 teaspoons parsley flakes for a fresh, dried herb finish
– 4 quarts of water to create the flavorful broth base
Instructions
1-First, cover the 1 whole cut-up fryer chicken with 4 quarts (about 3.8 liters) of water in a large pot and bring it to a boil.
2-Once boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer and cook for 30 minutes to infuse the broth with flavor.
3-Next, remove the chicken from the pot, shred the meat using forks, and return the bones to the broth.
4-Cover and simmer the broth with the bones for another 45 minutes to deepen the taste.
5-After that, take out the bones, then add the 2 diced carrots, 2 diced celery stalks, and optionally 1/2 of a medium diced onion, along with the seasonings: 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric, 1/4 teaspoon white pepper, 1/4 teaspoon ground thyme, and 2 teaspoons parsley flakes.
6-Simmer this mixture for 10 minutes to soften the veggies and blend the herbs.
7-Increase the heat, stir in the 16 ounces of frozen egg noodles and the shredded chicken, then cook for 8 to 10 minutes until everything is tender.
8-Finally, make a slurry by mixing 3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour with a bit of water until smooth, stir it into the pot, and simmer for 5 more minutes until the broth thickens. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
