Ingredients
2 pounds lean ground beef (90/10 or 93/7 fat content)
1/2 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 large onion, finely diced
1/4 cup mayonnaise
8 slices medium cheddar cheese
6 ounces medium cheddar, shredded (or additional sliced cheese)
24 dinner rolls (or two 12-packs)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (plus more for greasing the baking sheet)
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Instructions
1-Begin with preheating the oven to 350˚F and butter the bottom of a rimmed baking sheet. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, add the diced onion, and then mix in the ground beef. Break it up with a spatula and season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until it’s just cooked.
2-Remove excess fat from the skillet and stir in the mayonnaise for extra creaminess. Cut the dinner rolls in half and place the bottom halves on the baking sheet, topping each with a slice of cheddar cheese. Spread the beef mixture evenly over the cheese and cover with shredded cheddar.
3-Place the top buns on the burgers, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle sesame seeds on top. Bake uncovered for 12 to 15 minutes until the cheese melts and the tops turn golden. For more grilling tips, check out our easy BBQ ribs recipe which shares similar techniques for meats.
