🧀 This Homemade Cheese Bread recipe delivers a soft, cheesy texture that’s perfect for any meal or snack.
🍞 Enjoy the rich flavor of melted cheddar combined with tender, fluffy bread made from scratch.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 40 minutes to 1 hour 55 minutes
  • Yield: 1 loaf

Ingredients

– 1/2 cup buttermilk, warmed to about 110°F

– 1/3 cup water, warmed to about 110°F

– 2 and 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast

– 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

– 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled

– 1 large egg at room temperature

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder

– 3 cups bread flour, plus extra as needed

– 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

– 2 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley or dried/fresh herb of choice

– 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

1-Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C) and greasing a loaf pan or lining it with parchment paper for easy release. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt to make sure everything mixes evenly and helps the bread rise just right.

2-Gradually stir in the milk and oil until you get a sticky dough, and feel free to use plant-based swaps if you’re making a vegan version it’s that flexible.

3-Once your dough is ready, fold in the shredded cheese so it’s spread throughout, promising cheesy bites in every slice. Pour the batter into your pan and smooth it out don’t forget, if you’re using gluten-free flour, let it rest a minute for better texture.

4-Pop it in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until it’s golden and a toothpick comes out clean, then let it cool for about 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

🧈 Use high-quality unsalted butter for the best flavor in both dough and topping.
🌿 Fresh herbs in the topping add an aromatic freshness but dried herbs work well too.
🧀 Try different hard cheeses like pepper jack or gouda for flavor variations, but avoid soft cheeses as they can affect the dough texture.
