Ingredients
3 medium yellow onions
2 tablespoons salted butter
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons sugar
1/4 cup dry white wine
12 ounces sour cream
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 clove fresh garlic, grated
Fresh flat-leaf parsley, minced to taste
A few dashes of Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce to taste
Instructions
1-First, peel and slice the onions very thinly using a mandoline slicer helps for even pieces that cook uniformly.
2-Heat the salted butter in a nonstick skillet over medium heat, then add the onions, 2 teaspoons of salt, and 2 teaspoons of sugar.
3-Sauté the mixture, stirring every few minutes for 10-15 minutes, then add a bit of the dry white wine to deglaze the pan; let it sizzle out and repeat if needed.
4-Keep caramelizing for about 30-40 minutes until the onions turn deeply golden brown, becoming soft, sticky, and full of fragrance.
5-Transfer the onions to a cutting board and chop them coarsely or snip with kitchen scissors for the right texture.
6-In a separate bowl, mix the softened cream cheese and sour cream until smooth, then stir in the chopped onions, minced parsley, and season with a few dashes of Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce, plus grated garlic if desired.
7-Serve the dip warm or cold, pairing it with chips, pita, bagel crisps, vegetables, or even as a spread for sandwiches and burgers.

⏳ Take time to caramelize onions low and slow to avoid burning and deepen sweetness.
🍋 Use water to keep onions moist if avoiding wine; add lemon juice at the end for acidity.
❄️ Refrigerate dip for 3-4 days; it can be made ahead for convenience.
