🫐 Bursting with juicy blueberries under a golden, cake-like topping for the ultimate homemade dessert delight!
🍰 Easy, crowd-pleasing comfort food ready in under an hour – perfect with ice cream for any occasion.

  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings

Ingredients

– 4 cups blueberries, fresh or frozen for a sweet-tart filling

– 1/2 cup granulated sugar for sweetening the berries and jammy filling

– 1 teaspoon lemon zest for bright citrus note

– 6 tablespoons butter for rich topping

– 1 cup flour for cake-like batter topping

– 1 cup sugar for batter structure and sweetness

– 2 teaspoons baking powder for batter rise

– 1/4 teaspoon salt for flavor

– 3/4 cup milk for pourable batter

– Cinnamon for sprinkling for warm spice

Instructions

1-First Step: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Slice the 6 tablespoons butter into pieces and add to a 9Γ—13 inch baking dish. Place the pan in the oven while it preheats so the butter melts. Remove the pan once melted.

2-Second Step: In a bowl, combine 4 cups blueberries, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon lemon zest. Stir until the berries are coated.

3-Third Step: In a separate bowl, mix 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 2 teaspoons baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Stir in 3/4 cup milk until just combined. Avoid overmixing so the topping stays tender.

4-Fourth Step: Pour the blueberries over the melted butter in the baking dish. Drizzle the batter on top, aiming for even coverage. Sprinkle cinnamon for sprinkling over the batter.

5-Fifth Step: Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until the top is lightly golden. Your kitchen should smell like warm berries and cinnamon.

6-Final Step: Serve warm. Optionally, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream right before eating for a classic dessert contrast.
