Beef Patties:
1.5 lbs ground beef (80/20 blend)
1.5 tbsp kosher salt
1.5 tbsp black pepper
1.5 tbsp garlic powder
Beer-Battered Onion Rings:
2 whole yellow onions, sliced into rings
12 oz beer
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp kosher salt
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp black pepper
1 tbsp cayenne pepper
Frying oil
Additional Burger Ingredients:
6–8 slices of cheddar cheese (or pepper jack)
8–10 bacon strips, cooked
Favorite BBQ sauce
Toasted burger buns
Lettuce
Tomato
Pickles
Mayonnaise
Instructions
1. Prepare onion rings by soaking sliced onions in ice water.
2. Preheat oil in a cast iron skillet to 375°F.
3. Mix 1.5 cups flour with cornstarch, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne.
4. Add beer gradually while stirring until a smooth batter forms.
5. Coat onion rings in remaining flour, then dip into the batter.
6. Fry onion rings until golden brown, then drain on a rack over paper towels.
7. For burgers, form the ground beef into loose 2-ounce balls.
8. Press patties gently, making a small indent in the center.
9. Cook patties in a hot skillet, seasoning and smashing slightly.
10. Flip patties and place a cheese slice to melt.
11. To assemble, spread mayonnaise on the bottom bun.
12. Layer with cooked patties, bacon, onion rings, and BBQ sauce.
13. Add lettuce, tomato, pickles, and top with the other bun half.
