  • Total Time: 55 minutes
  • Yield: 5-6 servings

Ingredients

– 5-6 large apples peeled, cored, and sliced (Granny Smith preferred, but any variety can be used)

– 1 tablespoon lemon juice

– 1/4 cup light brown sugar

– 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

– 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

– 2 teaspoons cornstarch

– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

1-Preheat the oven to 375Β°F to ensure your apples bake evenly.

2-Peel, core, and slice the 5-6 large apples, then place them in a 9Γ—13-inch baking dish for proper spreading.

3-Add 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1/4 cup light brown sugar, 1 tablespoon granulated sugar, 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, and 2 teaspoons cornstarch to the apples, then mix well to coat every slice.

4-Spread the mixture evenly in the dish and top with 2 tablespoons unsalted butter for added richness.

5-Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30-40 minutes, stirring every 10-15 minutes to help the sauce caramelize without separating.

6-Let the baked apples sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before serving to allow flavors to settle.

Notes

🍏 Cut apples thinner if you want faster baking and a softer texture.
🍯 Stir a couple of times during baking to help caramelize the sauce and prevent fat separation.
πŸ‹ Lemon juice prevents apples from browning and adds tartness but can be omitted without impacting flavor.
