Instructions

1. Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl and let it sit until foamy.
2. Add flour, salt, melted butter, and herbs to the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms.
3. Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for about 60-90 minutes until doubled in size.
5. Punch down the dough and divide it into 12-18 equal portions.
6. Roll each portion into a breadstick shape, either twisted or straight.
7. Arrange the shaped breadsticks on a lined baking sheet, leaving space between each.
8. Cover the breadsticks and let them rise again for about 30-45 minutes.
9. Preheat the oven to 400°F while the breadsticks are rising.
